How long at NewSong?

Since 2002.

Why NewSong?

We wanted to be involved in a local church that preached the truth of the good news of Jesus in a relevant, exciting way and that had God's heart of compassion to reach out practically to the community in which it was situated. NewSong does these things in wonderful ways and as a bonus, we've made some great new friends!

Testimony

I was brought up in a very strong Christian home, but had lots of questions during my teenage years. At the age of 18, I realised there were no piggy back rides into heaven and that if I meant business with God, I needed to make my own commitment. It was touch and go for a while, but thanks to the prayers of many people (I found out afterwards!!) I decided to follow Jesus. Since then, my testimony is NOT that of a bed of roses, but rather of God's faithfulness and love in all situations and of His peace and joy even in hard times. The Christian life is like a journey, sometimes rough and sometimes smooth, but God is always in the car with us! I've realised that the experiences we go through can be used by God to enable us to grow as Christians and hopefully to help other people.

Hobbies

I love animals, gardening, flower arranging, interior decorating (as opposed to DIY!), reading, walking, entertaining, holidays and my family. The list is not in order of preference!

Favourite Scripture verse

How can I choose just one?! I suppose it would have to be Proverbs 3:5&6. I know that's 2 verses but they go together! "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not to your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths".

Favourite Movie

"Fly away home" - the amazing true story of a young girl raising a clutch of goose eggs and then having to fly the geese south for the winter. I also loved "Life as a House" and "Guess who's coming to dinner?" - also all the Fred Astaire dance movies, but that's another story!!

Bookshelf Favourites

All the works of Jane Austen and the Bronte sisters. As long as I could have my Bible as well, I would be happy on any desert island with those books!! I enjoy biographies/autobiographies, too, as long as they are about/by people I respect.

Most proud of

My wonderful family, the one I was born into and the one I now have with Edward.

I want to be remembered for

Being someone who shared the love of Jesus in practical ways. Being someone who could be trusted.  Being someone who can see the funny side in most situations!
