Peoria

Each year, in preparation for the new school year, the Dream Center Peoria prepares and donates to families in need more than 2,000 backpacks containing essential items for school attendance.

The mission teams will assist in the preparation and distribution of these backpacks, as well as participating in the inner city sports activities programme and other community activities run by the Dream Center.

The Dream Center Peoria is part of Riverside Community Church, which was visited by some people from NewSong in November last year. It is a fantastically impressive witness for the work that God is doing through his church in terms of combating the deprivation associated with many inner city communities. The church is run by Pastor John King, who was originally from the UK and who also for a time ran a church in Bromsgrove where our very own Pastor, Peter Billingham, was baptised as a boy!

The duration of the stay in Peoria will be 6 days, from 30^th July 07 to 4^th August 07, plus two days travel. The cost including full board and lodgings, tee-shirts and transportation is $125 plus flight. To give you an idea, on the rates today there are 2 US dollars to the £ at the moment.
