The Lord's Prayer
The Lord's Prayer is found in the Gospel of Matthew, Chapter 6, verses 9 to 13.
Set out below are the same verses from 3 different Bibles, ranging from the most modern "The Message" version to the centuries old "King James" version. Which one you use is purely a matter of your own preference. They all have the same content and sentiments, though expressed in very different ways.
Our Father in heaven,
Reveal who you are.
Set the world right;
Do what's best--
as above, so below.
Keep us alive with three square meals.
Keep us forgiven with you and forgiving others.
Keep us safe from ourselves and the Devil.
You're in charge!
You can do anything you want!
You're ablaze in beauty!
Yes. Yes. Yes.
From "The Message" version of the Bible.
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. Amen.
From "The New International Version" of the Bible.
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil:
For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever.
Amen.
From "The King James Version" of the Bible.
